Danny Kyle
Danny was one of the best known and best loved persons on the Scottish folk music scene. He was involved in virtually
every good folk festival in Scotland; people chose their festivals just by his name. His popular Open Stages are legendary.
He had a great sense of humour, he knew how to get on with people, he always wore the ugliest ties and a bonnie
bonnet. On Sunday, 5th July 1998, Danny Kyle has passed away. He leaves a gap in the Folk Music World that will hardly
ever be filled. Hopefully a bit of his spirit will live on in the international folk music scene.

Adam McNaughtan
I, Adam McNaughtan, being of sound mind, write my own sleeve-notes. I lived the first twenty-five years of my
life in the East End of Glasgow and I have a few years to go before I have served that long in the Soo'side. I
sing my own and other people's songs without instrumental accompaniment. My detractors claim that I only
break the monotony by pitching every third song too high. Most of my songs are humorous. That is, they make
me laugh. It was the late Bob Small, Latin teacher at Whitehill School, who taught me that the cloth cap and
the learned sock could be worn together without incongruity. I hope that my search for laughs in the combination
is no betrayal of his teaching.

Ewan McVicar
An important contributor to the folk revival, his songs are widely sung and recorded by Scottish traditional singers,
and one song entered the Hit Parade in 1960, but his chief claim to fame is that he has written twenty songs for
the Singing Kettle children's show. He has written or co-authored several books on aspects of Scotland's traditional
song, and founded the first Scottish folk club in Glasgow.
